Signals
Signals
Every row on the Signals page is one signal: a source, a buying moment, and a schedule.
The Signals page is where FounderMCP starts. Each row is one signal; the row at the bottom adds a new one, and the agent on the left sets one up with you. The Leads counter opens that signal's leads on the Leads page. The two constraint columns open the signal itself, each on its own side: Company constraints on what it looks for, Lead constraints on who may become a lead — and Edit signal in the row menu opens both at once.
The agent
On the left sits the agent, a chat that sets up signals with you. Tell it what you want to track — "everyone who reacts to our competitors' posts", "Belgian companies that just raised a Series A" — or pick one of the options under its first message. It asks for what that type needs, one question at a time, looks up the company pages, people, event or technology, and creates the signal. When it needs a company or a person, type the name: it shows the best matches with their logos, and you click the right one.
- Click an answer, or type your own. The answers to a question sit right above the message box. Clicking one puts it in the box — tick several where several fit — and Enter sends it; you can add to it or type something else entirely.
- No confirmation needed. As soon as every question is answered, the agent creates the signal — exactly what the wizard would create — and starts its first sync; the new row appears in the table next to the chat. The card shows every setting while it is being created, and confirms when it is done.
- Want to check it first? Say so, and the card waits: Create signal creates it, Open in wizard opens the same settings in the usual wizard, to finish or adjust them there.
- Every type keeps its own questions. The agent asks what the wizard asks for that type: a department or titles for company signals, who may become a lead for LinkedIn signals, a HubSpot selection or your own list for your champions.
- It manages the signals you have, too. Ask it to delete, pause, resume or sync signals, change their schedule or who may become a lead, and it prepares a card that names every signal it touches — one click does it, with the same actions as the row menu. Deleting says it cannot be undone.
- Leads have their own chat. Questions about the leads a signal brought in, or who to reach out to, go to the agent on Leads.
The chat never closes: collapse it with the small arrow on its edge, and click the narrow strip to open it again, with your conversation where you left it. Your conversations are saved, as on Leads: the clock icon at the top of the chat lists them, and the pen icon starts a new one.
The catalogue
Signal types are grouped by where the signal comes from.
Company signals — the signal comes from company data, not from LinkedIn; the person who surfaces is your way in at that company:
- Leads that raised funding — fresh budget and a mandate to spend it.
- Companies using a technology — companies running a tool you track.
LinkedIn signals — the signal happens on LinkedIn, and what someone posts, reacts to or carries in their headline decides who becomes a lead:
- People who just took a role — new in the seat, still picking their tools.
- Competitor/integrator lead generation — everyone engaging with the posts of a competitor, or of a tool next to yours.
- Engagers with my content — your warmest audience: people engaging with your own posts.
- Posts mentioning keywords — authors of posts on your theme.
- Brand mentions — people talking about a brand in public.
- Posts about conferences — speakers and attendees around an event.
- LinkedIn groups in your niche — where your audience gathers.
HubSpot required — signals that start from your portal:
- Activity of competitor sales — the accounts a competitor's sales team is working.
- Tracking your champions — people you know, caught the moment they move.
Until HubSpot is connected (Settings → HubSpot), these two are greyed out, in the agent and in the wizard.
A few more types are built but not in the picker yet; see Coming soon.
Syncs and schedules
The Sync column shows each signal's rhythm: daily, weekly, or off. FounderMCP passes by every hour and harvests the rows that are due; Sync now in the row menu harvests immediately. While a sync runs, the row pulses, and the leads counter fills in once the harvest lands.
Two types have their own rhythm: Companies using a technology either harvests once when you add it or keeps listening for new adopters, depending on the mode you pick; Leads that raised funding refreshes monthly, with Sync now available in between.
Who can become a lead
Most types end their setup with the same two questions: who may become a lead, and what HubSpot should do with them. Nothing is narrowed until you narrow it — a signal you leave alone lets everyone through. The ICP filter is not asked here: it is optional, off by default, and set once for your whole workspace on Settings → ICP, where it applies to every signal.
Company signals ask Select Department: the departments show as badges, and you pick one. Each sync then looks for the top decision-makers in that department at every company it found.
Want something narrower than a department, like founders only or a specific title? Use Select Role(s) underneath: pick from the suggestions or type your own. Those are searched word for word, in the language you type them, and they replace the department — while a department also covers its Dutch and French titles. The two sides exclude each other: filling one dims the other, and the dimmed side says on hover what is in the way.
Below both, Leads per company sets how many people each company adds to your leads: the top decision maker, the top 2 or the top 3 (the default). The most senior matches go first. It is a ceiling, not a target — if fewer people match at a company, you get fewer.
You see those same two badges when you open an existing company signal from the table, so what you set is what you read back.
Two special cases: Activity of competitor sales uses only the HubSpot gate (the whole point of that signal is whether you already know the account), and Tracking your champions has no gates at all — the watchlist itself is the selection.
From signal to message
Each harvested person lands on Leads with the reason they surfaced, and the template for that signal type drives their opening message. Signal → sync → lead → template: that chain is the product.
