# Companies using a technology

Point at a tool you don't sell, and get the companies working with it.

## What it watches

Technology-stack data: which companies run a given tool. You point at a technology — the competitor you replace, the platform you build on — and you pick **which companies you mean**:

- **Current + new adopters** — the companies already running the tool, plus every company that starts using it from today on.
- **New adopters only** — just the companies that begin using it from today on.

Using a technology is a **state**; adopting one is an **event**. Both modes listen for the event — a subscription that TheirStack pushes to us. The first one also answers the state question once: a search for who uses the tool today.

## Who becomes the lead

A **company signal**: the company chose the stack; the person who becomes the lead is your way in there, found by job title afterwards. Messaging talks about the company's stack — never as if the person picked the tool.

## What you configure

- The technology to look for.
- The countries the company is headquartered in.
- Which companies: current + new adopters, or new adopters only.
- The role that becomes your entry at each company.

## Syncing

Both modes read *Listening* on the row: new companies arrive on their own, as they start matching. Nothing to schedule and nothing to press.

**Current + new adopters** also syncs **once**, at creation, for the companies already using the tool — the same search returns the same companies tomorrow, so there is no second one. **New adopters only** never syncs at all.

One caveat worth knowing: the source detects technology from **job postings**. A company appears the first time it posts a job that reveals the tool — which is when we can *see* the adoption, not necessarily when it happened. A company that adopts the tool and never posts a job stays invisible.

You cannot run both modes on the same technology and country at once. They would overlap, and the source bills each channel separately — so the second signal is refused.
